March 14, 2020

The entire planet is entering an unfamiliar next few months due to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Spring 2020 will be very different for billions of people due to cancellations of professional & amateur sports games, tournaments, festivals, events, concerts, corporate meetings, theatrical performances, movie theatres, schools & colleges – anywhere hundreds or thousands of people gather.  Closures are also happening with zoos, museums, parks (including their campsites) and businesses. The entire worldwide travel & hospitality industry is affected by shutdowns or slowdowns.

Mark & I are very aware of the trials & tribulations affecting all of us, especially our members, during this very challenging & unsettling time. It appears uncertainty will be prevalent here in the US for weeks if not several months to come. We applaud those brave & hark-working professionals in the medical research and public health fields as they struggle to identify those with COVID-19 and provide suitable healthcare while the intensive search is underway for a vaccine. One thing is for sure, this virus is indiscriminate in its infection of adults regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, religious & political affiliation or sexual orientation. We are all its target so all of us are truly in this together.

The Homestead at 3218 appreciates those current & future members still visiting with us as most leisure & entertainment opportunities are becoming more limited. We pledge to you to provide as safe an environment for your visits as possible. We are following federal & local governmental guidelines in the care offered our visitors & the vigilant cleaning of this venue.

You, too, can help in ensuring the safety of yourself & others whether you’re here or anywhere in public:

· Regularly & thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.

· Maintain at least a 3-foot distance between yourself and any other person who is coughing or sneezing. Don’t shake hands, don’t kiss on the cheeks, don’t hug!

· Cover your mouth & nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

· Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

· Don’t share towels with other guests.

· If you feel unwell - have a fever, cough & difficulty breathing – seek medical attention and follow directions of your local health authority. Cancel any planned trips.

By working together & following health safety guidelines, we can get through this pandemic & get our lives back. We’re happy to play a small part of this effort in welcoming you to our getaway venue. Be brave, be vigilant, be cautious and stay safe.
